Basant Holiday will be observed locally in Lahore district according to administration orders. CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced Basant Festival in Lahore on 6th February 2026.

DC announced that children under 18 will be allowed to celebrate Basant only with their families to ensure safety. The city has been divided into red, yellow, and green zones for secure celebrations, with modern surveillance systems, drones, and control rooms deployed to monitor and prevent illegal rooftop activities.

The Lahore Deputy Commissioner has announced that children under the age of 18 will be permitted to celebrate Basant only in the presence of their families to ensure safety and proper discipline during the festival. He emphasized that the government, in coordination with relevant departments, is taking all necessary measures to provide a peaceful, safe, and well-managed environment for the public.

Meanwhile, Lahore Police have intensified their crackdown on the illegal production, sale, and distribution of kites and chemical-coated strings ahead of Basant. In coordinated raids conducted in Baghbanpura and Shahdara Town, police arrested four suspects and seized a large quantity of kites and banned string.

According to a police spokesperson, Baghbanpura police apprehended two kite dealers, Sohail and Zaheer, and recovered a pickup vehicle, nearly 2,000 kites worth millions of rupees, along with 20 reels of chemical-coated string from their custody.
